Product Condition: Hot Rolled, Solution Heat Treated & Straightened

Manufacturing Conditions:
The ingots for manufacturing the steel bars can be melted by electric arc furnace process or other refining process.
After being hot rolled (for steel bars with diameter less than 20mm, cold-drawn or roll after being hot-rolled is allowed), the steel bar shall be performed solution and picking or grinding (or lathing) treatment, and then be straightened.
The recommended temperature of solution treatment shall be in the range of (980-1050)°C.

Non-Destructive Testing:

    i) Visual Inspection
        The surfaces of steel bars shall be free of defects such as cracks, folds, scabs and inclusions.
        The injurious surface defects can be removed by grinding; but after the grinding, the minimum diameter of steel bars shall be assured.

    ii) Ultrasonic Testing
        The steel bars shall be 100% examined by ultrasonic. The acceptance criteria shall be as following:
        a) For Single Defect:
        The bars with single defect of which the amplitude of echo signal exceeds that of Flat Bottom Hole (FBH) with diameter of 1.5mm with same beam path will be rejected.
        b) For Multiple Defects:
        The bars with multiple defects of which the amplitude of echo signal exceeds 10% of that of FBH with diameter of 1.5mm with same beam path and interval distance between defects is less than 25mm shall be rejected.
        c) Noise Signal Level of Steel Bar:
        If the amplitude of the noise signal exceeds 10% of that of FBH with diameter of 1.5mm with same beam path, the bar shall be rejected.
        d) Check of Back Reflection of Bar:
        Adjust device to make the amplitude of back reflection signal obtained from the standard specimen bar is as 80% as full screen height, then put the search unit on steel bar to check the loss of back reflection signal. If the amplitude of back reflection signal is less than 50%, the bar shall be rejected.

Testing Procedure:
Tension test shall be performed for each product batch, made up of the bars having same melting heat number, the same heat treatment number and the same dimensions.

10. Non-Destructive Testing:

    i) Visual Inspection 100%
        The surface of the bar shall be inspected for crack,lap, scab, inclusion and other surface defects.
    ii) Ultrasonic Testing
The steel bars shall be 100% examined by ultrasonic. I'hc acceptance criteria shall be as following:
    a) The steel bar must be free of cracks and concentrated defects.
    b) Inspection shall be carried out by taking Ø1.5mm as the equivalent defect.

11. Certification Required:

10. Non-Destructive Testing:

i) Visual Inspection 100%
The surfaces of steel plates shall be flat, and the flatness shall be equal to or less than l0mm/m.
Plates shall be free of oxides and over-pickled pits, and also free of such defects as cracks, stratifications, scabs, bubbles, slag inclusions and shrinkages on the surfaces of steel plates. .
The injurious surface defects can be removed by grinding; but alter the grinding, the minimum thickness of steel plates shall be assured.

ii) Ultrasonic Testing 100%
Following defects are not permissible in plates:
a) Any injurious defects such us white points, cracks etc.
b) Any defects causing the amplitude of back reflection reducing to less than 30% of the full screen height
c) Any defect with the equivalent diameter being equal to or greater than one sixth of the plate thickness when it is greater than 12mm
d) Any defect with the equivalent diameter being equal to or greater than Ø2mm when the plate thickness is equal to or less than 12mm
e) Two or more adjacent defects, with the equivalent diameters being less than the above specified values individually, but with the separation distance between two adjacent ones being less than or equal to one fifth of the plate thickness and the sum of their equivalent diameters is greater than one fifth of the plate thickness
